America Recycles Day

On November 10 th residents of the Bloomington/Normal community came together with the Ecology Action Center and the Children’s Museum to celebrate America Recycles Day. The program began at eleven o’clock. Parents and children made their way around the second floor of the museum, learning first about the basic rules of recycling then later being taught how to make a waste-free lunch and the importance of composting. Harvey H 2O also educated visitors on the benefits of water preservation while Conservation Cat made a special guest appearance to read stories to all the children.

At twelve thirty the winners of the “Save the Planet Accessorize” and “2007 EAC Calendar” contests were announced. The talented artists were each given a prize bag and the first place winner of the fashion accessories contest was awarded 100 dollars. All the entries were fantastic and the competition was very close! Once the winners received their prizes, then free refreshments and pizza were served to all the guests.

Thank you to everyone who came out to participate in the 2006 America Recycles Day program and congratulations to all the winners. We look forward to the seeing you all back next year!
