DESCRIPTION:Our local environment needs your help! Join the Ecology Action Center in picking up trash around McLean County for our March mCLEAN Up Crew Workday. Volunteers will use trash grabbers with safety equipment like high visibility vests and gloves to pick up litter around designated areas. Participants must be 18 years or older or 12-17 years old and accompanied by a guardian. Volunteers must be able to spend three hours on their feet and carry a weight of 10-15 pounds. Volunteer to help out at our annual Constitution Trail and Sugar Creek clean-up event on Saturday\, April 25\, 2026 from 9 a.m. to noon! \nThe EAC and our community partners Friends of the Constitution Trail need help cleaning up the trail from the Chateau west to Audubon Gardens. \nA parent or guardian must accompany minors. Dress appropriately for the weather and bring your own work gloves if possible. SUMMARY:Grand Prairie Bird Alliance volunteer workday - let’s clean up Sugar Creek!
DESCRIPTION:Did you know that you can see bluebirds\, woodpeckers\, and so many other birds at the Illinois Art Station? This charming property at 101 E. Vernon includes a nice little forested area adjacent to Sugar Creek\, making it the perfect place for birds to meet their every day needs – native seeds to eat\, tree cavities for shelter\, and a creek for water. Windy weather has resulted in quite a bit of litter accumulating along the creek\, so help Grand Prairie Bird Alliance clean it up! The birds deserve better. Grand Prairie Bird Alliance will even provide hot chocolate. As a bonus\, the clean-up will correspond with the Art Station’s monthly free art hours\, so you can get inside to warm up and do some art as well! All are welcome. SUMMARY:Sweet Corn Circus Composting: August 24\, 2025
DESCRIPTION:The Ecology Action Center needs 1-2 volunteers per shift (11:00-1:30pm & 1:30-4:30pm) to help us at our booth at the Sweet Corn Circus. Volunteers will help alert Sweet Corn Circus attendees to composting services provided by the Ecology Action Center. Volunteers will also help at the booth ensuring materials are being disposed of in the correct bins. \nVolunteers need to be 16 years or older\, and able to stand on their feet for multiple hours at a time. Work will be outdoors\, so volunteers need to dress appropriately for the weather.

SUMMARY:McLean County Fair Green Team: July 23-26 (Multiple Shifts Available)
DESCRIPTION:The McLean County Fair is going GREEN for the third time in a row! In partnership with the McLean County Fair\, the Ecology Action Center will have recycling receptacles available for recyclables generated at the county fair. However\, in order for this initiative to be successful\, the EAC is recruiting volunteer green team members to help staff these receptacles. Volunteer duties will include educating fair goers of what is and is not recyclable\, collecting recyclables\, and monitoring receptacles for contamination. The McLean County fair is being held July 23-27 at the McLean County fairgrounds. Volunteers 16 years or older can sign up for a 3 hour shift (4:00-6:30pm\, 6:00-8:30pm\, and/or 8:00-11:00pm). Volunteers are mostly needed during evening shifts on Friday and Saturday. As a volunteer you will be given a Green Team volunteer t-shirt for you to keep and free entrance into the fair for another day of your choosing.
