DESCRIPTION:The Earth Day Breakfast occurring on April 22 at 8:00am will include a sustainable selection of local foods\, vegan options\, Fair Trade coffee and teas and feature keynote speaker: Zahra Biabani. \nAuthor and Climate Activist\, Zahra Biabani\, is a powerful voice for positive change. Her book\, Climate Optimism: Celebrating Systemic Change Around the World celebrates the encouraging environmental trends and showcases communities pioneering unique solutions to the climate crisis. By focusing on progress\, Zahra reminds us that optimism can fuel action – and inspire us to keep pushing for a more sustainable future. This timely conversation will inspire and uplift during challenging times. \nTickets can be purchased at sustainability.ilstu.edu. This event is $10 for ISU students and $25 for ISU Faculty\, Staff\, and General Public. \n  \nThis event is sponsored by the ISU Office of Sustainability\, and co-sponsored by the College of Business\, the Department of Health Sciences\, Department of Geography\, Geology\, & the Environment\, and Leadership\, Education\, & Development (LEAD).

SUMMARY:Earth Day Tree Planting: April 22\, 2025 (Multiple Shifts) Comlara Park
DESCRIPTION:Help the Ecology Action Center plant small (1-3 ft tall) bareroot seedling trees to improve air quality\, sequester carbon\, increase wildlife habitat\, and more! \nVolunteers must be 18 or older\, or alternatively 14 or older if accompanied by a parent or guardian. Tools and heavy equipment will be in use and all volunteers must be able to safely use hand tools\, stay on their feet for 3 hours at a time and lift a moderate weight (~15 pounds). \nPlease dress appropriately for weather conditions and working outside. Long pants and closed-toed shoes or boots are required; no sandals or flip-flops. More information as well as a confirmation email will be communicated to volunteers prior to the workday and NOT at sign up. \nSelect one (or both!) of the shifts below: \nMorning 9-11:30am shift \nAfternoon 12:30-3pm shift \n*Please note that registration is required for this event.
