DESCRIPTION:Join us for our final virtual presentation on the Grow Solar Bloomington-Normal Program\, a group buy program for solar for homeowners in McLean and DeWitt Counties. You’ll find out how the program works\, how solar can benefit you\, and what discounts and incentives you can get for your home! We are approaching the end of the program\, but there’s still plenty of time to secure discounts on rooftop solar\, saving you money on increasing energy bills. \nPlease note\, due to our installer’s capacity restraints\, all remaining projects for this program will not be eligible for the 30% federal tax credit\, which expires at the end of the year. Even with this incentive gone\, going solar is still a smart investment for the long term. With energy rates forecast to continue increasing\, rooftop solar is a proven savings method that will help offset future rate hikes. DESCRIPTION:Join the Ecology Action Center for some Storm Drain Stenciling! This volunteer activity educates residents about the dangers of storm water runoff pollution\, and provides information on how to reduce individual contributions to storm water runoff pollution. Join us to stencil “Drains to Stream\, Keep it Clean” at neighborhood storm drains and distribute informational door hangers to remind residents about the dangers of storm water runoff pollution and how they can prevent it. Participants must be 18 years or older or 12-17 years old and accompanied by a guardian. \nMore information regarding location and parking will be sent on the day before the volunteer day. This volunteer event needs a minimum of 6 people. Please register each participant individually. Please note that registration is required for this event. SUMMARY:Grand Prairie Bird Alliance Fall Bird Walk: September 20\, 2025
DESCRIPTION:The birds are heading south and on September 20 the Grand Prairie Bird Alliance is heading to Hidden Creek Park\, 100 W. Sycamore\, where Normal Parks is doing a wonderful job of restoring the native plants that attract them. If you’d like to see some of these beautiful birds\, join us for a bird walk in September and October! Each walk is led by a local expert. Bird walks are appropriate for all ages and all skill levels. (Seriously\, there is no pressure to know anything about birds! We can give you some tips\, or you can just walk along with us and appreciate us appreciating the birds.) We even have 5 pairs of loaner binoculars! \nHidden Creek is smaller and is fully accessible for those with mobility devices. It’s also a smaller park with great birding not too far from your parked car. There are also benches throughout\, so it’s a great birding spot for those who need to take breaks.
