Reduce, Reuse, Recycle: Kids (6-10) Create a ZERO Waste Lunch!
April 14, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am
Location: Green Top Grocery
How often do your kids throw items into the trash without ever thinking twice about it? This class will teach our youngest community members (ages 6-10 years old) about the problems associated with generating too much waste, and how easily they can be a part of the solution by sticking to the 3 R’s: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. Children will learn about these concepts through an interactive story, and then discuss how we can all make better use of the 3 R’s starting with our daily lunch choices to achieve a zero waste lunch. Everyone will participate in a fun sorting activity and leave with a reusable bag!
Instructor Molly McCready is the Education Coordinator at the Ecology Action Center in Normal. One of her main roles at the EAC is to educate 3rd and 4th grade students on clean water and solid waste. She is passionate about empowering children and adults alike to make sustainable choices that have a positive impact on our community.
This class is appropriate for ages 6-10 years of age. Parents are welcome (but not required) to join us for this class. The $5 registration fee includes parent participation if desired. Minimum of 6 participants, maximum of 14 participants.
