Garden Gathering Series: Rain Barrel Workshop & Yard Smart Presentation

Join the Ecology Action Center and Wendell Niepagen’s Greenhouses for a morning of sustainable yard care and water conservation as part of their Garden Gathering Series!

Kick off the day at 9:30 a.m. with our Rain Barrel Workshop, where you’ll learn the environmental benefits of collecting rainwater and how to install and maintain your own rain barrel. During the hour long workshop, EAC staff will guide you through downspout transitions, proper winter storage, and everyday use tips. For $55 you’ll leave with a 55-gallon repurposed food-grade barrel and the confidence to put it to use at home! Registration is required below.

Then, at 11:00 a.m., stick around for “Yard Smart: Gardening for a Healthier Home and Planet”. This engaging presentation introduces the Yard Smart program—an initiative focused on safe, sustainable yard care practices. Learn how to reduce chemical use, conserve water and energy, and create habitats for native wildlife, all while keeping your yard beautiful and family-friendly. Registration for this presentation is recommended but is not required.
