Home Sweet Home Ministries launches new textile recycling program

A person dropping off clothing at a Home Sweet Home Ministries Renew boxThis morning Home Sweet Home Ministries launched a new program to increase textile recycling in Bloomington-Normal with 10 new collection bins to be place around the community. The first three locations were established today and include Denny’s Doughnuts and Bakery (1107 S. Main Street, Bloomington), Vale Church (1304 Morrissey Drive, Bloomington), and Busey Bank, (1111 S. Veterans Parkway, Bloomington).

Nationwide, only about 15% of textiles are recycled according to the US EPA, so this new program will help fill a need in our community’s recycling and waste reduction efforts. But in addition, the revenues generated from Home Sweet Home’s recycling efforts stay in our community, funding important social services for our local residents.
