Program Coordinator
The Ecology Action Center is seeking a full-time Program Coordinator. This position is responsible for implementing programs focused on air quality emissions, greenhouse gases, and radon awareness and providing technical assistance for solid waste planning and coordination. The Program Coordinator position includes paid time off including annual vacation time, sick time, and holidays. Position is contingent upon program funding.
Major Responsibilities
- Conduct inventory of air quality emissions at community and local government levels to include greenhouse gases
- Facilitate collaborative community planning process to set goals and develop formal strategies to reduce air emissions
- Provide technical assistance for solid waste planning and coordination
- Radon awareness program coordination
Specific duties
- Collection, interpretation, and processing of annual data on stationary energy use, transportation, and other sources of air quality emissions
- Compilation of emissions data into report illustrating relative sources of emissions by sector, category, and scope
- Identification of key stakeholders and development of working group(s) for collaborative community strategic energy planning process
- Facilitation of stakeholder meetings to assure inclusion of diverse perspectives and community values
- Provide technical consultations to small businesses and other entities on source reduction, recycling, organics recycling, and other waste management strategies
- Provide assistance with community solid waste planning and coordination
- Coordinate education and outreach on radon awareness across the community, facilitate meetings of the McLean County Radon Task Force
- Help staff the office and answer inquiries from the public on related program area topics
- Review air quality and solid waste permit applications as needed.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Energy, Environmental Health, Environmental Studies or other environmental sciences major; Master’s Degree preferred
- Experience working on air quality issues or GHG measurement required
- Experience in solid waste management highly desired
- Demonstrated skills in group facilitation and consensus building
- Strong communication skills required, both written and verbal
- Experience and high degree of comfort with web and computer technologies: spreadsheets, WordPress, databases, CRM, etc.
- Previous experience with ClearPath or other GHG software highly desirable
- Ability to work occasional long hours and irregular schedules to accommodate programmatic needs
- Ability to stand for 4 or more hours at a time
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
- Must provide own transportation, automobile insurance, and have a satisfactory driving record
